Environmental Study

INDOT and KYTC initiated an environmental study of the project corridor, as required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The study is required for all federally funded projects. The environmental study includes:

  • Analysis of a range of reasonable alternatives
  • Public involvement, including opportunities for interaction and comments
  • Coordination and consultation with local, state and federal agencies
  • Assessment of temporary impacts of the project
  • Consideration of ways to avoid, minimize or mitigate temporary impacts

The draft environmental document was made available for public and agency review and comment from July 1, 2020 through August 16, 2020. All comments received were reviewed, considered and addressed in the final environmental document. The final environmental document was completed as a Categorial Exclusion Level 4 in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and approved by Federal Highway Administration October 7, 2020.
